Develop a spending plan for a homeless or at-risk individual or family based on a scenario provided by the clinical instructor. This will require visiting discount grocery stores, thrift shops, food banks, and other low-income resources to obtain accurate and realistic information and costs. Follow the following guidelines.

Day in the Life Activity
Based on an assigned scenario, develop a spending plan for a homeless or at-risk individual or family. Development of the plan will require visiting discount grocery stores, thrift shops, food banks, and other low income resources to obtain accurate and realistic information and costs. Submit a summary of the experience which includes the following:
1) Discuss the primary health issue and how that is affected by the individual or family financial status and environment.
2) Detailed spending plan including specific items to be purchased, quantity, and from where. Chosen food items should be appropriate for health need and the living situation in the scenario. What other resources will be assessed to stretch the budget? What is available from these resources?
3) Reflections on your impressions and reactions during and after the activity.

SCENARIO: A single homeless female with type II DM receives General Assistance of $387.00 a month. She often sleeps at a local shelter, but has a tent and camping gear, to use when necessary. Due to increased rainy and colder weather, she needs a new sleeping bag and jacket or coat.
