The Office for Human Research Protections (OHRP) published the Belmont Report,

The Office for Human Research Protections (OHRP) published the Belmont Report, which outlines the basic ethical principles of research as respect for persons, beneficence, and justice. Each research subject must give informed consent, understand the risks versus benefits, and be fairly selected. (OHRP, 2022). Translational research must adhere strictly to ethical guidelines to ensure the safety and well-being of all human subjects. One of the most significant ethical issues in translational research on medical products is intentionally shortening the timeframes for the application of the study. Doing so can lessen testing rigor from the bench to the patient’s bedside and expose them to unnecessary harm. (Petrini, C., Minghetti, L., Brusaferro, S., 2020). If I were a member of a translational research team, I would ensure that my team and I adhered to basic ethical principles in research. Ethics committees help to ensure that ethics are followed in translational research. If I felt that we were not following ethical guidelines, I would consult the ethics committee to help intervene.
